Approach Road to Brean Farm

A Special Visit

Description of sighting

I visited Brean Down this afternoon having seen a report on S.O.S (Somerset Ornithological Society)
Web Page that a Long Eared Owl had been flushed from the trees on Brean.A Wryneck had also been found on the slope as well as a Black Redstart.I was able to find the Wryneck which was not too cooperative but gave good views with long gaps in between. The other two could not be found. There were the usual Crows and Jackdaws and a few Linnet and young Stonechats around and on the way back to the car park I saw a Sparrowhawk take down a starling in the adjoining fields.
